Getting to net carbon zero cruising by 2050: Getting ready for Fit for 55

The European Union has set the ambitious goals to achieve 55% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. The maritime industry is an integral part of these efforts with the inclusion of the sector in the EU ETS scheme as well as clear targets for the use of alternative low-carbon fuels and the obligation to deploy and use shore-side electricity at EU ports. The cruise industry fully supports these objectives. This panel will discuss the EU objectives on maritime and provide useful insights on how the cruise industry stakeholders can prepare to meet them.

Promotion of sustainable energy for maritime panel

CLIA members have committed to pursue net-zero emission cruising by 2050. One key condition to meet this objective is the availability of renewable sustainable fuels or other zero-emission technologies. This panel will gather representatives from the shipyards, manufacturers, ports operators, and fuel producers on which new fuels and new technologies are on the horizon to deliver zero-emission cruising.
